We will go the extra mile to make sure you have a smooth and successful transition into life in South Korea. Teachers earn a salary starting from KRW2.1 - 2.3 million - $18,800 - $20,500 per annum. All contracts are for a minimum of 12 months, and are renewable. Teachers also get FREE furnished housing, FREE airfare, paid holidays and contribution to health insurance coverage.

The South Korea Cultural Foundation online and in-country courses are designed to prepare future English teachers for all aspects of life in South Korea. Through online classes, the course delves into the heart of South Korean culture and values  before you arrive in the country. Once in the country, it  includes active-learning through excursions to various sites of cultural and historical significance.

Teaching English abroad is an excellent alternative to the traditional post-graduate employment path.

In-Country Orientation:
The South Korean cultural orientation is an initiative designed to help Placement Only ESL teachers who will be teaching in South Korea adapt to the social norms and new environment, allowing them to integrate smoothly into Korean society. The program consists of various activities and excursions to orientate and inform new teachers. It takes place twice a year, during spring and fall,  in the capital Seoul, and is spread over 3-4 weekends each season. We invite all the Placement Only participants who have been placed through us to attend these weekends. Highlight activities may include:

• Korean Language Classes (now provided online as part of out online cultural orientation)
• Bukchon Hanok Village Tour
• Hanbok Cafe and Gyeongbokgung Palace Tour
• Traditional Tea Tasting
• Korean Cooking Class
• Taekwondo Class

Gaining an understanding of language, history and culture is essential to making a success of teaching in South Korea.

Eligibility

- Any Bachelor’s degree from a South African institution
- 120 Hour TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certificate
- Aged 21 and older. Applicants 35 and older will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
- Minimum of 12-month commitment
- Native English speakers
- Good mental and physical health
- No criminal history
- South African passport only - no other African passport holders
(US, Canada, NZ, Australian, Irish or British accepted too)

Visa Info

Visa support by our partners in South Korea to obtain a work visa to live and work in South Korea for a year.

You will be provided with a comprehensive visa checklist. Items include your Bachelor’s degree, transcripts, Police check, health form, TEFL/TESOL certificate, references, employment contract.

Application Time:
Average of 4 - 6 months from the initial application until arrival in South Korea
